The Hybrid part is good; The Kia part is terrible
By Wild Bill | on Friday, July 18, 2025
We’ve owned our Sportage HEV for 2 years. In that two years, we’ve had the car at the dealership several times for things that fall under warranty….but what fun is it to have the following replaced on a garage-kept, hand washed, meticulously maintained car: door handle replacement, headlight replacement, rear hatch lock replacement. Now that the car has 30K miles, it’s time for another headlight replacement, another door handle replacement and the turbo is malfunctioning. The dealership assures us that everything is fine but I will not be purchasing another Kia. We love the hybrid feature. We do not enjoy the lackluster sound system and terrible build quality. Eight trips to the shop to have things fixed in the first 2 years isn’t my idea of a good vehicle.… - 2.0
Non stop problems
By Clarinet | on Friday, December 26, 2025
I have Kia sportage 2023, I purchased this vehicle because I was ready for an SUV. This vehicle new line was beautiful and the space of the trunk was perfect for work. For a year the car worked fine only little compliant was the radio was low. However after a year in, my car started to die while driving randomly, I took it for a diagnostic like 3 times. Since the problem happen randomly they couldn't figure it out. Then one day it died completely and didnt turn on. They tried to say it was the battery but all the diagnostic said my battery was fine. So I paid for the battery and the diagnostic since they said it was not covered even though this car is only 1 1/2 years old. The issue did stop but a new glitch started to happen, my key wouldn't unlock my car, they said it was the battery on my key so I changed it. My key still is not letting me in my car in the winter and to be honest a 2 year old key car shouldn't need two battery changes. Now the biggest issue is, in 10° degree weather my air compressor isnt working, which means I have no air and heat coming out my car.… - 1.0
Don’t buy.

I thought this was a great car for the first year but have had multiple problems now with it. It has broken down while driving and now won’t start. The check engine light pops on and the car shuts down when anything it cause the check engine light to come on. Very disappointed with this purchase.…
